Player and League Updates
The DCTA provides support for league play in both the Coastal and Neuse River tennis leagues. In 2024, over 1,500 registered adult players played on 71 tennis teams. There were also 177 junior players. Several teams, both men and women, qualified to play in state tournaments. Also in 2024 we had 7 Tennis Pros donate their time to teach various skills to almost 50 local tennis players. The 2025 Spring Tennis Kickoff is tentatively set for February 22 at River Birch Tennis Center. This will herald the start of the spring USTA season. More information on this event will be posted on our Facebook page.
Recycling Program
In partnership with Baywood Racquet Club, we launched a tennis ball recycling program in April 2024. Between the multiple sites, we have reclaimed over 1,000 balls. Recycling boxes are located at Greenville Country Club, River Birch Tennis Center, Baywood Racquet Club, Baywood East, JH Rose High School and South Central High School.
TryTennis
TryTennis started in September 2024 at Baywood Racquet Club. Many of the 30 new students are continuing with PlayTennis. Congratulations to all of our new tennis players!

Young Professionals
A new focus for DCTA for 2024 was to host more tennis activities for Young Professionals. River Birch Tennis Center hosted a Tennis Round Robin for Young Professionals in November 2024. It was a successful event with 18 players participating. Players were asked to bring a canned good for donation to the Food Bank. DCTA plans to continue this goal into 2025, with monthly events held for Young Professionals.
DCTA Membership
2 new additions to the DCTA membership were hired this year. The new NC Advocacy Specialist will go to local community meetings and the new Media Specialist will promote DCTA events and tennis happenings from area clubs.
